Good Evening -
When people found out that we were moving to Denver in October, the resounding response was, "Oh...it'll be cold."
Well, cold it's not, but there is definitely a change of season occurring.
Both my partner and I decided over dinner tonight that we've been hit by a kaleidoscope of changes right now - shortening of days, warm summer to cool fall, sea level to a mile high - that, coupled with the stress of moving, are having us feeling a desire to hole up, cuddle up, and root at home for a bit.

It's layers season in Denver right now, which means that it might be 50 and brisk when you step out in the morning, but 75 and sunny by early afternoon, only to dip back down to 50 as soon as the sun sets - which it is doing earlier and earlier.
To successfully maneuver through these fluctuating temperatures, one needs to have layers so that one can layer up in the mornings and evenings and strip down in the afternoon. Ideally these layers are portable because at any time, a patch of sunlight or a cool breeze can have you reaching for your layer.
The Virgen is in honor of this season change. We both noted tonight how much we had forgotten what humus smells like and what the sense of fall in the air feels like. We had forgotten how harvest feels and couldn't remember the last time we saw pumpkins and squash looking so appropriate.
It's been a long week and we're both ready for some quiet weekend time before we start work full-time on Monday.
To that end, I'm off to bed.
Here's to season changes. Here's to layers and appropriate pumpkins and brisk mornings and the smell of humus and holing up with your favorite someone.
